Remote monitoring and management (RMM)

Software installed on your computers and servers that lets a provider see their health, apply updates and fix problems without visiting.

What remote monitoring and management (RMM) means in practice

RMM is the tooling underneath almost every managed IT plan. The agent reports disk health, failed backups, missing patches and antivirus status back to a dashboard, which is how a provider notices a failing drive before it takes the machine with it.

It is worth understanding because it explains what you are actually paying for. Every provider in the market uses broadly the same category of tool, so the software is not the differentiator. What differs is whether anybody reads the alerts. A dashboard full of red that nobody acts on is a common finding when we take over from another provider, and it costs the same as one that is being watched.
